What is Amba?
Amba transforms care by spotting subtle changes in a residents routine. Discreet sensors highlight daily habit changes, like unusual sleeping patterns or increased bathroom visits at night. This allows our teams to intervene early with personalised support, keeping residents safe and independent without feeling constantly watched.
Designed with dignity and privacy at its core, Amba works quietly in the background without cameras or intrusive deceives. Amba’s technology respects independence while equipping teams with meaningful data to improve safety, confidence and day-to-day decision-making.
By introducing Amba across our homes, we are strengthening our commitment to delivering proactive, individualised care. The insights it provides help our teams respond sooner, support residents more effectively, and create safer, more responsive environments where people can truly thrive.

Sarah Leskinen-Keel, our Chief Operating Officer, shares why Amba is such a meaningful addition to our homes. Discover how this discreet technology helps us support residents safely while respecting their independence and individuality.
Meeting the need for proactive care
As demand for safe, personalised care continues to grow, care providers need access to the right information at the right time. Amba supports this by providing real-time insights into sleep, movement, activity levels and changes in routine, helping care teams identify potential concerns early and respond before issues escalate.
Rather than relying on periodic observations, Amba enables a more proactive approach to care. By building a picture of resident’s daily habits and wellbeing, teams can spot subtle changes that may indicate an emerging health concern, a change in behaviour or an increased risk of falls.
This proactive approach is already making a difference across Agincare homes. At Beaufort Park Retirement Village, sleep and bathroom visit data highlighted patterns that prompted further investigation by a GP into resident’s kidney and bladder function. The information not only supported clinical decision-making but also provided reassurance to the resident and their family that concerns around overnight continence were being accurately captured and acted upon.
The technology is also helping to prevent incidents before they occur. At St Peter’s Park Retirement Village, falls reduced by 89% following the implementation of Amba. In one instance, an out-of-bed alert prompted an immediate welfare check, where staff discovered a resident partially out of bed and holding onto the bed rail. The team believes the alert may have prevented a potentially serious fall.
Alongside improving safety and wellbeing, Amba is helping teams spend more time delivering meaningful care. Across services, the technology has contributed to a 52% reduction in night-time checks, helping residents enjoy more restful; sleep while giving care teams more that 25 additional hours each week to focus on person-centred support.

How Amba works
Amba helps shift care from reactive to proactive by creating a personalised picture of each resident’s wellbeing, without the need for intrusive cameras, microphones or wearable devices.
Using a network of discreet sensors placed throughout a resident’s room, the system gathers information about daily routines, movement patterns, sleep quality and environmental conditions. These sensors work together to build a comprehensive understanding of a resident’s typical behaviours, enabling care teams to identify changes that may indicate a developing health concern or increased support need.
This means care teams can respond quickly to emerging concerns, whether that’s increased nighttime bathroom visits that may indicate an infection, disrupted sleep that could affect wellbeing, unusual activity patterns that suggest a change in behaviour, or an out-of-bed alert that may help prevent a fall.
By providing real-time insights while respecting privacy and dignity, Amba enables our teams to deliver more personalised, proactive care and support residents to live safely, comfortably and with greater peace of mind.

Transforming care at St Peter’s Park

At St Peters Park, Amba was implemented to enhance resident safety while creating a more efficient, less intrusive care environment. The results demonstrate a significant shift towards proactive, personalised care.
Reducing physical checks
For residents requiring half-hourly monitoring, physical checks were reduced by 52.4%. By replacing intrusive nightly rounds with discreet sensors, staff reclaimed 3 hours and 38 minutes per night totaling over 25 hours gained each week allowing them to focus on meaningful, person-centred interactions.
Proactive fall prevention
By utilising Amba’s high-priority out-of-bed alerts, St Peter’s Park achieved a dramatic reduction in incidents. In a two-week period, the home recorded just one minor fall, compared to 44 falls in the previous month. Real-time alerts allow staff to respond instantly, preventing incidents before they occur and significantly reducing harm.
Informed care planning
Amba’s data provides deep insights into daily routines, helping teams track the impact of medication changes on sleep quality. This evidence-based approach guides safer, more effective care planning. Residents utilising the sleep monitoring device experienced zero falls, demonstrating the systems vital role in maintaining independence and safety.
