Agincare Heroes pays tribute to the incredible teams and colleagues that have demonstrated outstanding excellence in their work or made an extraordinary difference to those who draw on our services.
Tell us about the amazing Agincare team members that have made an exceptional difference to your life! Find award categories below and submit your nomination by 1 March 2023.
Nominations will be reviewed by an esteemed panel of judges led by Agincare’s Founder and Chairman Derek Luckhurst and Chief Executive Raina Summerson.
Winners will be invited to an exclusive awards ceremony celebrating the achievements of all of our Agincare Heroes 2023!

This award recognises the vital role of the care worker in delivering excellent person-centred care and support true to Agincare’s standards and values, whatever the setting. This outstanding, often unsung star, has demonstrated remarkable skill, resilience and compassion to go absolutely the extra mile above and beyond their normal care duties. Evidence of dedication and kindness with sensitive handling of matters of importance to those they support, will all be taken into account. They are aware of personal development, and look for opportunities to absorb knowledge and skills through formal training and informal opportunities to learn and improve.
Tell us about the outstanding unsung star that has demonstrated remarkable skill, resilience or compassion to go absolutely above and beyond their normal care duties.
This award will be presented to a care team which brings true dedication, resolve and heart to make a real difference to the quality of life of those they support. During 2022-23 this team will have developed and maintained an outstanding standard of care and Agincare team ethos within any setting. This team will be able to best demonstrate a shared vision and agreed goals, working together to demonstrate passion and commitment to those they support, with respect and support for each other.
Tell us about the care team that brings true dedication, resolve and heart to make a real difference to the lives of those they support.
This award recognises the team or individual that consistently goes above and beyond by displaying a positive attitude and embodying true Agincare values, even under the most challenging circumstances. It may be that the nominee has repeatedly been ‘caught in the act’ of delivering exceptional service which impacts positively upon the internal or external customer experience. They communicate efficiently and effectively, collaborating and acting as a role model for colleagues.
The Agincare Hero Medal is our equivalent of the George Cross. It is awarded to an elite band of Agincare team members who have performed an incredible act of valour, gallantry or devotion that is deserving of recognition and reward. This could be in the line of their care duties or outside of work, but captures the spirit, courage and values of the Agincare family.
Awarded to an outstanding Agincare apprentice who has made a real difference to their work through admirable commitment to their own personal development. They may have applied their skills and knowledge to bring improvement, share learning, become a champion or ambassador in the workplace.
This award reflects essential behind the scenes work which takes place to enable direct care teams to consistently deliver high quality, personalised care and support to some of the most vulnerable in society. This team’s outstanding performance may also be key to Agincare’s ongoing year-on-year success and sustainable growth as a leading independent care provider nationwide.
This award will be made to an outstanding Registered Manager, who embodies Agincare’s values and behaviours, demonstrated by a consistently high level of skill, expertise and management abilities. The leadership of this Registered Manager has resulted in an exceptional outcome for clients, team members and service.
This award is named in remembrance of Agincare colleague Will Mitchell, who sadly passed away at a young age in 2022. Will was dedicated to care, and passionate about Agincare. Will worked in many care branches and locations before taking a senior role in recruitment at Agincare Head Office. Will was much-loved with an infectious personality, and an inspiration to those around him.
The Will Mitchell Award will be presented to an exceptional individual who has made an incredible difference to the people they have supported, or to the team they are part of. It may be someone who has made a long-term outstanding contribution over the years, or excelled and inspired over the past 12 months.
This category recognises those unsung inspirational individuals who volunteer tirelessly, generously giving their time, enthusiasm and energy to support those who draw on Agincare’s services. This award aims to shine a light on someone who embodies the true spirit of volunteering, makes an outstanding commitment and exhibits a high level of motivation to make a difference. It could be a family carer coming into a care home, someone helping with visits, activities, trips out or supporting the work of any Agincare team. It may be someone whose length of volunteer service deserves to be recognised.
This award will recognise an exceptional leader, in any Agincare setting. They will live and breathe Agincare’s values. This leader will command respect, show passion and demonstrate the ability to support, develop and motivate their team whilst building the confidence and trust of everyone they come into contact with.
