How do nursing homes and care homes differ?
Both provide 24-hour care, meals, a laundry service and activities, plus help with personal care, such as washing and getting dressed.
However in our nursing homes we have care staff who are registered nurses on duty round-the-clock. These nursing staff are qualified to provide the same level of care (such as administering certain medicines and treating complex wounds) that district nurses do during their visits to our care homes.
This means that our nursing homes are well-suited for people with a long-term illness or medical condition needing regular attention by nurses.
Are residential nursing care homes the only option for complex care?
We recognise that living in a nursing home or a care home isn’t for everyone. You may prefer to stay in the familiar surroundings of your own home. That’s why we offer a wide choice of personalised care, including live-in care and home care – even for complex care.
