Agincare has donated £6,613.75 to the Care Workers’ Charity after a year of fundraising by our care home, live-in care, home care and HQ teams.
With more than 3,500 care staff, we could think of no better cause to champion than the Care Workers’ Charity, which supports current and former care workers with one-off crisis grants, and online information and advice.
Teams right across Agincare came up with some ingenious and fun ways to raise money. The South West Live-in Care team completed the Dorset Adventure Park Mud Trail and Mandy from the Poole home care team bravely leapt out of a plane to do a skydive.
Other fund-raising included a bake-off at Agincare’s Portland HQ, cake sales and Mad Hatter’s Day fancy dress competitions, and plenty of coffee mornings.
Agincare’s Sales & Marketing Director Adam Luckhurst said:
“Raising over £6.5k is a great achievement by the company. The efforts of everyone have been excellent, and I know there’s been lots of fun had as well. The team has done all sorts: mud runs, cake sales, rough sleeping, raffles, bake-offs, silly hat competitions and loads of other things. My brothers and I were planning to run the Weymouth Half Marathon in March, but we’ll now run in September. Despite lockdown, training is still going strong – sort of!
“Karolina Gerlich and the team at the Care Workers’ Charity work so hard to make sure past and present care workers are supported in their time of need, so as a company and board of directors we really wanted to help. We’re so pleased to finally present them with a cheque. Whether you were involved in organising an event or making a donation, all we can say is a huge ‘thank you’.”
Anyone working in care who is self-isolating, or under hardship for other reasons, may be eligible to apply for emergency financial aid from the Care Workers’ Charity’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund.
