Funds are raised by our sponsored Care Workers’ Charity walk!

Published: Friday 22nd July 2022

On the 30th of June, Head Office’s dedicated workers became dedicated walkers with a fundraising Care Workers’ Charity walk!

Agincare’s Head Office team in Castletown completed a 10K sponsored walk along Portland Harbour for a very worthy cause.

Why we completed our Care Workers’ Charity walk

“A UK where no care worker faces financial hardship alone and where their cause is championed both in and outside of the sector.”

This is the dream of The Care Workers’ Charity, known as CWC. We are passionate about helping it become a reality. The charity carries out an amazing job supporting care workers throughout turbulent times, and needs funds to continue its good work.

As one of the biggest independent care providers in the country, employing a team of over 3,500, this mission is is personal to us.

Because we are long-time supporters of the CWC, Agincare often puts the “fun” in fundraising! Including large donations, sponsored half marathons, and charitable care home activities… this walk is just one of many.

Striding to Sandsfoot Castle

On a sunny afternoon, the self-styled seaside strollers set out after donning ‘Choose Our Carers’ T-shirts, supplied by the CWC. The destination was stunning Sandsfoot Castle.

The team made waves. During the walk, local bystanders approached to ask about the event, and the group was happy to spread the word.

Agincare Chief Executive Officer Raina Summerson had this to say about the event;

Whilst we all wish that the funds were only there for extraordinary benevolent fund purposes, rather than essential daily support requests, The Care Workers’ Charity does incredible work for very deserving people. We are always excited to create fundraising opportunities like this one. The energy of the Head Office team was great, even better when we had the chance to share our purpose with curious members of the public. There was a buzz all throughout the event that made the 10k walk a really enjoyable trip out.

Agincare teams nationwide have done lots of fundraising for The Care Workers’ Charity, so this is far from our first donation, and it will definitely not be our last!

After a short rest at the castle, our strollers began the return leg, taking in a swift pit stop at Billy Winters beach café, before completing the final stretch into Castletown.

Agincare’s Head Office team, along with others across the country, regularly raise money for local good causes and national charities or campaigns.

Thank you to everyone that sponsored our seaside strollers.

The need for our support is as great as ever post covid and we are so grateful to our sponsors, supporter members and fundraisers for helping us to help those in need.
