We are delighted to announce that our Enable supported living service that covers Dorset has received Outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following its first inspection in June.
Agincare Enable Dorset was rated Outstanding overall. The service achieved Outstanding ratings in the Caring and Well-led categories, and Good ratings in Safe, Effective and Responsive. You can read the full CQC inspection report here.
In Dorset, through Agincare Enable, we provide supported living services for individuals with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum conditions, or physical disabilities, particularly where needs are complex.
People at the heart of their care

Inspectors found that people supported by Agincare Enable Dorset felt safe, valued and listened to. Families also spoke positively about the care their loved ones received and the progress they had made since joining the service.
One relative said their loved one was happy, safe and well cared for, adding that they felt completely confident in the standard of care provided. Another described how their family member had “grown from strength to strength”, making significant improvements in their motivation and confidence.
The report highlighted how team members supported people to achieve personal ambitions and take an active role in their communities. This included helping one person fulfil a long-held dream of attending a concert, as well as supporting people to enjoy interests such as gardening and steam trains, access education and become a Dignity Ambassador.
What the CQC had to say
Neil Cox, CQC Deputy Director of Adult Social Care in Dorset said:
“Agincare Enable Dorset is a great example of what outstanding care looks like for autistic people and people with learning disabilities. Our inspectors found staff knew each person as an individual, understood what mattered to them and this made a real difference to their lives.
“People and their relatives consistently told us about feeling safe, valued and listened to. One relative told us their loved one was happy, safe and well cared for, and described feeling completely confident in the standard of care being provided.
“Families also told us they’d seen real progress in their loved ones since joining the service, with one relative telling us their family member had grown from strength to strength and made substantial improvements in their motivation and confidence.
“We were particularly struck by how staff supported people to live full and fulfilling lives, not just meet their basic needs. Our inspectors heard about a person supported to plan and attend a concert they’d always dreamed of going to, with every detail worked through so they felt confident and secure on the day. Others were supported to pursue hobbies like steam trains and gardening, or to take on new roles in their community such as becoming a Dignity Ambassador.
“This all came from a leadership team that staff described as approachable and invested in getting things right, and from a workforce that clearly took pride in their work. Staff told us they felt confident raising concerns and knew their contribution mattered, which in turn gave people consistency and stability in who supported them day to day.
“Everyone at Agincare Enable Dorset should be proud of this report, this is a service that put people at the heart of everything it does, and the outstanding rating reflects the real difference that makes to people’s lives. Other services should look to this report to see if there’s anything they can learn from it.”

Our Enable services are situated within local communities across the county, offering self-contained apartments alongside communal lounges and spacious gardens, providing the right balance of privacy and social interaction.
Our county-wide outreach services complement accommodation-based support, offering flexible, personalised assistance to help individuals remain independent.
