Our South Devon End of Life Team, which is part of Agincare’s live-in care service, will discover if they are crowned National Home Care Team of the Year at the Great British Care Awards this Saturday (25/9) at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham.
The team, based in Torquay, works closely with Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust to deliver the support and care that means people can spend their final days in the comfort and familiar surroundings of their own home, surrounded by their loved ones.
They join regional finalists from around the country after picking up the top award for the southwest at a special ceremony at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol in August (pictured below).
The Great British Care Awards pay tribute to teams and individuals across the UK that have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
Ahead of the awards ceremony, team manager Loredana Sima, was interviewed by judges to find out what sets her team apart from other finalists.
Loredana, who will join Agincare colleagues at the awards ceremony, said:
It’s a big achievement to have got to the national final and we are honoured to be there.
I’m sure all the finalists do an excellent job, but we are hopeful of having a good chance of winning.
The team is amazing, they are very experienced, dedicated and always go the extra mile and everyone we work with is pleased for us.
The team is part of our live-in care service, whose Operations Director Sam Mayes added:
We’re really excited that Loredana and her team are through to finals for National Home Care Team of the Year at the Great British Care Awards.
I’m so very proud of what they’ve achieved. We’re looking forward to celebrating their success, and whatever happens at the national final they’re always winners in my eyes.
Now over ten years old, the Great British Care Awards is a leading awards scheme backed by Care England, Department of Health & Social Care, Alzheimer’s Society, Care Talk, Social Care Institute for Excellence, The National Care Forum and other sector organisations.
In recognising the team’s achievements in winning the southwest region award, judges said:
