An unwavering commitment to keeping the wellbeing of everyone that draws on our services at the heart of everything we do is the key theme that runs through our newly published Business Overview 2020-21 care report.
2021 remained a challenging time for all care providers; but our length of experience, range of services and commitment to high quality care underpinned our continued success, giving confidence for the future. The Overview Plan charts Agincare’s continued year on year growth, expansion into new geographic areas, diversification of services and ongoing sustainability. It also pays tribute to the commitment of our incredible workforce, and Agincare’s strength of leadership in the social care sector.
Highlights of 2021 included Agincare celebrating the 35th anniversary since our Chairman and Founder Derek Luckhurst started his first care home in Weymouth. Derek was recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the prestigious Leaders in Care awards, and our Chief Executive Raina Summerson (pictured below) was named as a ‘Voice of the Industry’ in Home Care Insight’s first-ever Power List. Chief Executive Officer Raina Summerson said:
I’m incredibly proud of how our teams have risen to the challenges of the ongoing Covid pandemic to deliver high quality care, making a real difference to people’s lives. We continued to develop and grow, building more valuable partnerships and services nationwide as we celebrated our 35th anniversary year.
The Business Overview Plan care report focuses on five key areas…
Agincare remains financially strong, providing confidence of a long term, sustainable future for those that draw on our services. This provides peace of mind, not only for those that we support but also their loved ones too. Our success is the result of successful projects, innovative working and geographical expansion. We continue to work very closely with those whom draw upon our services, enabling us to provide high quality, tailored care services for specific local conditions and unmet needs.
2020/21 continued to offer one of our biggest challenges with the ongoing impact of the Covid pandemic. We are tremendously proud of our teams, their hard work and resilience throughout, delivering essential care and support to our local communities. Our care workers were awarded with a Covid Hero Medal in recognition of their incredible efforts during the pandemic. Our new people plan focuses on recruiting, retaining and training incredible people that share our passion for care, and providing a great workplace experience for every team member.
The experience, expertise and leadership of our teams to deliver essential care and support to some of the most vulnerable in society is recognised across the care sector. We lobby for long term adult social care reform, with funding and a workforce strategy remaining absolutely crucial for our teams, and ultimately everyone we support and care for.
Our teams have given evidence to Government select committees, contributed to major industry reports by organisations including LaingBuisson and The Health Foundation. We also regularly comment in the regional, trade and national media; and join headline conferences and events to shape the conversation around care. 2021 also saw our Chairman and Founder Derek Luckhurst recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the prestigious Leaders in Care awards (pictured below).
We continued to develop and grow Agincare services nationwide. This included a new care office in Yorkshire, and supported living accommodation for younger adults in Kent. We also opened a new regional care office ‘Riggers’ Row’ near to our HQ in Portland, Dorset (pictured below), increased our training and support locations nationwide and added to our portfolio of Extra Care schemes.
We are one of the few care providers nationwide that offers a comprehensive range of options, tailoring care to those we support as their needs change. We believe that this enables us to innovate, employ resources, share skills, and respond in a way that few other providers can. 2021 saw us win new contracts across all our care services, working more closely than ever before with our partners, including councils and the NHS during the Covid pandemic. That includes rapid response contracts supporting the NHS to discharge patients safely into the community.
2021 marked the 35th anniversary of our Founder and Chairman Derek Luckhurst starting his first care home in Weymouth. Agincare remains family run with a commitment to a long term future delivering person-centred high quality care nationwide. We’re continuing to develop over time, managing emerging risks and exploring opportunities for growth and quality across all of our services. All our activity means that we can continue to support the people that draw on our services to lead fulfilling lives.
