Live-in care assistant

As a live in care assistant, you’ll be supporting client in their own home seven days a week; helping them to remain as independent as possible.

You’ll be assisting with medication, providing companionship, support with personal care such as bathing and dressing, and helping with domestic tasks such as cleaning and preparing meals.

About the role:

  • £10.10 per hour whilst in placement
  • Paid two-day induction course, up to £150
  • Paid upfront DBS Certificate
  • Paid annual leave based on working patterns
  • Live in care job placements can vary in duration but are a minimum of 2 weeks
  • Accommodation and food allowance will be provided whilst in placement in a live-in care job in England
  • You will have your own separate room whilst in placement

This role is a 1-year sponsorship in England, with Agincare retaining the right to extend once successful applicants have passed the probationary period. You must work a minimum of 30 weeks to meet sponsorship requirements for live-in care jobs in England.

Project live-in care assistant

As a Project Care Assistant working in England, you’ll help and support our clients to return home after they leave hospital. You’ll be responsible for providing personal care duties such as bathing, as well as helping with domestic tasks and providing companionship.

This is a nationwide position, working alongside the NHS. We’ll supply you with your own company car and free accommodation.

About the role:

  • £11 per hour
  • Paid two-day induction course, up to £150
  • Paid upfront DBS certificate
  • Paid annual leave based on working patterns
  • 50 hours over 5 days
  • Guaranteed hours – If we don’t have the work for you, you’ll still get paid
  • Paid travel time between each client

Can EU carers work in England after Brexit?

Yes, EU carers can work in the UK after Brexit, but they will need to apply under the Skilled Worker Visa or EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS).

To work as a carer in the UK, you will need to have a confirmed job offer and certificate of sponsorship from a UK employer licensed by the Home Office. European carers looking for care jobs in the UK can apply to become a live-in care assistant with Agincare.

How do I get a care job in the UK?

If you are over the age of 18, have professional social care experience, are able to read, write, speak and understand English to at least level B1, and are from an EU country, you can apply for a Health and Care Worker visa with Agincare. We will become your licensed sponsor during your time working in the UK and will support you through the process.

What qualifications do I need to be a carer in the UK?

Formal qualifications are not essential in becoming a carer. However, at Agincare, we require that applicants have a diploma or other qualification in a health and social care related subject. You will also need to have demonstrated a proficient level of spoken and written English (UKVI IELTS with scores of no less than 6 overall and 5.5 for each module.)

How do I get a UK care worker visa?

To apply for a visa, you will need to have a certificate of sponsorship from your employer with information about the role offered to you. Agincare is a licensed sponsor looking to offer this to successful candidates with experience in Health and Social Care.

You can apply for a visa up to 3 months before the day you are due to start work in the UK. This date is listed on your certificate of sponsorship.

How do I get sponsorship to work in the UK?

To receive a certificate of sponsorship from an eligible employer you will need to have applied for, and been accepted, a position within the company offering the sponsorship.

The Home Office scrutinises each visa application, and once the application is made, it is only approved if you are assessed as suitable for a visa.

What is a live-in care role?

A live-in carer is a trained care worker who moves into a client’s home in order to provide 24 hour, one to one care and support, seven days a week. The duties of a live-in care worker may vary from personal care and administering medication, to cooking meals and helping the individual to get out and about.

What do I need to work in the UK?

To work in the UK, you will need to have a certificate of sponsorship from your employer with information about the role offered to you. To work in the UK as a care worker for Agincare, you will need:
• Have a qualification in a health and social care related subject
• Are a nurse (or equivalent, such as a paramedic) or senior healthcare assistant
• Have a qualification that demonstrates a proficient level of spoken and written English (UKVI IELTS with scores not less than 6 overall and 5.5 for each module)
• Have 1 or more years of clinical experience

How much do live-in carers earn in UK?

The average live-in carer in England can earn between £550 and £750 per week with a live-in care worker's yearly salary being dependent on their level and years of experience in health and social care. With Agincare's live-in care roles in England, you could earn £10.10 per hour as a live-in care assistant or £11 per hour in our live-in care projects.
