Live-in care jobs for Dutch carers

Agincare International offers two distinct opportunities in England for carers from the Netherlands.

If you meet our eligibility criteria, we will support you through the application process and into a career in the UK. This includes free training and contributions to the cost of travel to the UK.

Our recruitment team are available to answer your questions and guide you through the tier 2 health and care worker visa sponsorship process. They have extensive knowledge in recruitment in the Netherlands and experience helping Dutch carers to find live in care jobs in England.

Live-in care assistant role

As a live-in care assistant from the Netherlands, you will support clients to live independently. You will provide care seven days a week and will have your own bedroom within the client’s home.

Daily tasks may include companionship, support with personal care, and helping with domestic tasks such as cleaning and preparing meals. Live-in carers provide care throughout the day with breaks totally 14 hours each week.

About the role:

  • £10.10 per hour whilst in placement
  • Paid two-day induction course, up to £150
  • Paid upfront DBS Certificate
  • Paid annual leave based on working patterns
  • Live in care job placements can vary in duration but are a minimum of 2 weeks
  • Accommodation and food allowance will be provided whilst in placement in a UK live-in care job
  • You will have your own separate room whilst in placement

This role is a 1-year sponsorship, with Agincare retaining the right to extend once successful Bulgarian applicants have passed the probationary period.

Project care assistant role

As a Project Care Assistant working in England, you will support individuals to return home after a stay in hospital.

As a live-in carer working in projects, you will provide personal care such as bathing and dressing, as well as other duties like helping with domestic tasks, and providing companionship.

This is a nationwide live in carer position, working alongside the NHS. Agincare will supply you with your own company car and provide free accommodation. A full driving license is required for this UK care role.

About the role:

  • £11 per hour
  • Paid two-day induction course, up to £150
  • Paid upfront DBS certificate
  • Paid annual leave based on working patterns
  • 50 hours over 5 days
  • Guaranteed hours – If we don’t have the work for you, you’ll still get paid
  • Paid travel time between each client

Can Dutch carers work in the UK?

Yes, Dutch carers can work in the UK through the Health and Care Worker tier 2 visa. To work in the UK, you will need to have a confirmed job offer and employment sponsored by a UK employer licensed by the Home Office.

Dutch carers looking for care jobs in the UK can apply through the Tier 2 Skilled Worker route.

What does a live-in care worker do?

Live-in care workers support clients to live independently within their own home. As a carer from the Netherlands, you will give people living in the UK the reassurance and convenience of 24-hour one-to-one live-in care and companionship.

The individual services provided by a live-in carer will depend on the day-to-day needs of those they support. It could be relatively simple, like helping them to get up in the morning or making sure they take their medication. Alternatively, it could mean more complex care.

What qualifications do I need to be a carer in the UK?

Formal qualifications are not essential in becoming a carer. However, as a Dutch carer requiring sponsorship, we have set eligibility criteria. To apply, you will need to have a diploma or other qualification in a health and social care related subject.

You will also need to be able to demonstrate a proficient level of spoken and written English (UKVI IELTS with scores of no less than 6 overall and 5.5 for each module.)

How can I work as a caregiver in UK?

To be eligible for a live-in carer job in England, you will need to meet the following criteria.

You must:
• Be over the age of 18
• Have professional social care experience for this position
• Be able to read, write, speak and understand English to at least level B1 (must be by an approved UK provider)
• Be from a country not on the World Health Organisation’s list of red and amber countries.

How do I get sponsorship to work in the UK from the Netherlands?

Dutch carers looking for UK care jobs will need a certificate of sponsorship.

To receive a certificate of sponsorship from an eligible employer you will need to have applied, and been accepted for, a position within the company offering the sponsorship in the UK.

The Home Office scrutinises each visa application, and once the application is made, it is only approved if you are assessed as suitable for a visa.

What is a live-in care role?

A live-in carer working in the UK is a trained care worker who moves into a client’s home in order to provide 24 hour, one to one care and support, seven days a week.

The duties of a live-in care worker may vary from personal care and administering medication, to cooking meals and helping the individual to get out and about.

What do I need to work in the UK?

As a Dutch carer, to work in the England you will need to have a certificate of sponsorship from your employer with information about the care role offered to you. You will need:

• A qualification in a health and social care related subject
• To be a nurse (or equivalent, such as a paramedic) or senior healthcare assistant
• To have a qualification that demonstrates a proficient level of spoken and written English (UKVI IELTS with scores not less than 6 overall and 5.5 for each module)
• To have 1 or more years of clinical experience

How much do live-in carers earn in UK?

The average UK live-in carer from the Netherlands can earn between £550 and £750 per week with a live-in carer's yearly salary being dependent on their level and years of experience in health and social care.
