Trafalgar Care Home celebrates ‘good’ inspection rating

Published: Wednesday 26th June 2019

Residents and staff at Agincare’s Trafalgar Care Home in Weymouth are celebrating being rated ’good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC inspected the Dorset-based care provider’s Dorchester Road care home unannounced in early June. Inspectors rated Trafalgar as ’good’ in all areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led. The Commission monitors and inspects care services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety. They then publish what they find to help people choose care.

Pat McIntyre is the registered manager of Trafalgar Care Home in Weymouth:

“I’m incredibly proud of this CQC rating and report. It’s a testament to the whole fantastic Trafalgar team.

“Trafalgar is an affordable home-for-life for people living with dementia and cognitive impairment. We do everything we can so our residents feel completely safe and well cared-for. It’s gratifying that the inspectors received positive feedback from residents, relatives, health professionals and staff. We’re so pleased that they recognised our dedication to making Trafalgar a home-from-home.”

The CQC inspectors were positive about Trafalgar’s relaxed and happy atmosphere. They noted that staff take the time to get to know residents’ history, likes and dislikes. Really understanding their residents means the Trafalgar team can personalise their care appropriately, giving each resident as much choice and control as possible.
