Nominate your unsung care hero for a special award

Published: Tuesday 8th June 2021

We are proud and excited to announce the launch a prestigious new awards scheme to recognise outstanding team members who have gone above and beyond the call of their care duties in some special way.

The awards scheme honours team members who have excelled by making an outstanding difference to the people who draw on Agincare’s services, or in the way our services are delivered.

Our care clients, care home residents, friends and families are all being invited to nominate Agincare workers.

Award winners will receive a prestigious, specially-designed Agincare Hero Medal and honorary certificate and presentation, when Covid restrictions allow.

Any Agincare team member who has truly gone the extra mile can be nominated, from frontline care home and domiciliary workers to customer service and back office support workers.

Nominations will be reviewed by Agincare’s board of directors, including Founder and Chairman Derek Luckhurst and Chief Executive Raina Summerson (both pictured below with an Agincare Hero Medal), with only a limited number of awards presented each year.

Agincare Hero Award

Mr Luckhurst said:

The Agincare Hero medal is our equivalent of the George Cross to recognise absolutely outstanding contributions and incredible individual acts by our team members.

Every role at Agincare is crucial to delivering support to those whom we care for; and the professionalism and dedication of our team members are the reasons why our feedback is consistently positive.

However, we want to search out, acknowledge and give special recognition to those extraordinary unsung heroes who really do go above and beyond the normal call of duty.

Agincare Heroes will recognise and reward all manner of great service. From life-enhancing consistent care through to single acts of kindness, bravery or selflessness.

The team at Cheriton Care Home in Dorchester are inviting nominations.

Agincare Chief Executive Raina Summerson added:

Social care during this period has been in the spotlight throughout Covid, and the pressure on our colleagues has been immeasurable. However, this award is not just Covid focussed, and any extraordinary act or contribution by a team member can be nominated.

This has been an incomparable time, which has highlighted that social care workers are often the forgotten heroes.

If you know of someone in the team who has gone that extra mile for you or a loved one, then please do nominate them for an Agincare Heroes award!

Agincare is one of the largest independent care providers nationwide, employing some 3,500 team members across more than 50 locations and is fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

It remains family-owned and has been delivering high quality and professional care for over 35 years, which today includes live-in care, home care, residential care and nursing homes, supported living and more.
