Get in the community Christmas spirit at Hayling Island’s Gorseway Manor

Published: Friday 22nd November 2019

The residents and staff of Gorseway Manor Care Home on Hayling Island’s Seafront will be hosting a cracker of a community Christmas Fayre in aid of the RNLI on Saturday 30 November from 11am ’til 3pm.

The free-to-enter event will feature festive arts and crafts stalls from more than 15 talented local makers. There will also be a raffle, tombola, book stall and ‘name the RNLI teddy bear’, plus plenty of homemade cakes, cookies and mince pies to sample with a cuppa.

There will be a prize on the day, too, for the best child’s Christmas costume. And the winner of the ‘design a Christmas card’ competition will see their card printed and sold in aid of charity.

Gorseway Manor Care Home’s clinical operations manager, Helen Smith, said:

“Our residents and staff are really excited about welcoming local people into their lovely home, which will be decorated ready for the festive season. It’ll be a perfect chance to get some early Christmas present-buying done, as the craft stalls will have lots of handmade goodies for sale. Each stallholder has also generously donated something to our fantastic raffle, to complement a fabulous first-prize Christmas hamper. Local residents who received one of our Christmas Fayre flyers through their door can exchange it on the day for a free raffle ticket.

“As Gorseway Manor is right on Hayling Island’s Seafront, we’re keen to raise money for the RNLI, and are delighted that the Chair of the RNLI, Stuart Popham CMG QC, has kindly agreed to officially open the fayre. We’ll also be welcoming Dementia Friendly Hayling, the local scouts, sailing club and golf club. We hope lots of local people will support our efforts and make it a special community event.”

Gorseway Manor Care Home is at 354 Sea Front, Hayling Island PO11 0BA. For more information about the Christmas Fayre please call 07483 067441.
