Fantastic feedback for our home care service

Published: Tuesday 25th August 2020

We strive to provide consistently high-quality home care. So every year we ask our home care clients for their opinions about our service.

Keeping clients and care teams safe

This has been an extraordinary year. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety and physical and emotional well-being of our clients and care team members has been uppermost in our minds. We are doing absolutely everything we can to minimise the risk of infection and keep them safe.

So we’re extremely pleased that 92% of clients agreed that they feel comfortable and safe with their care workers, and 94% agreed that the care staff who visit them wear correct PPE.

In April, at the height of the pandemic, we also surveyed our care team members. One of the key statements – which 98% of our care team members agreed with – was: “I am provided with enough information to know how to protect myself and the people I care for from COVID 19.”.

Home care – giving you choice and control

This year’s home care survey results are a powerful endorsement of the positive difference we make to people’s lives. In total, 95% of the 888 people who filled out the survey said they are satisfied with the service from Agincare. And 96% agreed that our home care service enables them to have choice and control over their daily life.

Treating our clients with respect

As we are invited into hundreds of home care clients’ homes on a daily basis, it’s crucial that our care team members are polite and respectful. We’re proud of our fantastic care team members, as an amazing 98% of the people who responded agreed or strongly agreed with the statement: “I am treated with politeness and respect by my care workers.”.

Wearing PPE during home care visits

In the current COVID-19 climate, it’s vital that we do all we can to minimise the risk of infection during our home care visits. It’s reassuring that 94% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that: “The care staff who visit me wear correct PPE (minimum gloves apron and face mask).”.

Supporting people to have choice and control over their lives

We believe that home care can make a massive difference to a person’s independence at home. Helping someone get up and about in the morning, making sure they’re taking the medication they need, getting the shopping in, or simply being there for a chat and a smile – these are all ways our care teams support people to be able to stay in their own homes.

So it’s gratifying that 96% of respondents agreed that: “The service I receive has helped maintain or improve my quality of life”. And 94% were happy that their care workers “spend time on the things that are most important to them”.

A strong team

Our individual home care workers are supported by teams based in 22 home care branches across the country, from Newcastle-under-Lyme to Eastbourne. Our friendly and professional care co-ordinators, admin teams and managers work together to support our clients and care teams. That’s why we’re really pleased that 95% of people agreed that if they need to contact their local office, the team is always helpful.

Despite the overwhelmingly positive response to this year’s satisfaction survey, we’re not ones to rest on our laurels. We’ll be looking at the changes we could make to support even better scores next year.
