The New Year got off to a positive start for a group of 10 residents from our Crecy Care Home in Weymouth.
They were among the first care home residents in Dorset to get the COVID vaccine when they received their Pfizer vaccination at Weymouth Community Hospital on 1 January.
We continue to work closely with local health organisations to make sure our care home residents and care team members across the country are offered a vaccination as soon as possible.
On 8 December a frontline care worker at our Cheriton Care Home in Dorchester was the first person in Dorset to be given the COVID vaccination.
Crecy Care Home is a specialist mental health care home providing residential and respite care for older people with dementia, and younger adults with serious mental health care needs.
Sonia, pictured, was among the Crecy residents accompanied to the vaccination hub by members of the home’s care team:
I was really happy to have the vaccine. I feel safer now and maybe in the near future I may be able to see my mum. Plus, it didn’t hurt half as much as I thought it was going to!
Crecy Care Home registered manager, Vicky Boursnell Brooks, said:
This is a major step for our residents here at Crecy. It’s a step towards enabling our residents to feel safe.
