Celebrating Professional Care Workers’ Day

Published: Thursday 5th September 2019

Professional Care Workers’ Day was the perfect opportunity for us to celebrate the hard work and dedication of care workers.

The National Association of Care & Support Workers (NACAS) started Professional Care Workers’ Day (this year on 4 September) to highlight that care workers are skilled professionals who need to be respected and valued more. Their goal is to make care workers feel special for the awe-inspiring work that they do.

Our care workers are at the heart of everything we do, and we wanted to share why with you. We have more than 2,500 care workers who do an amazing job every day – caring for hundreds of people with a vast range of care needs. They work in home care, live-in care, our care homes and nursing homes.

And while each of our care workers is different, they all share the same key core skills and qualities. We’re so proud of how caring, compassionate, friendly, trustworthy, patient, kind, resourceful, reliable and motivated they are.

Care workers do their jobs year-round, in all weathers, and never know quite what each day will bring. Ultimately, they are people with a good heart, and we wouldn’t be here without them.

We’ll let our senior leadership team (and a special guest) say ‘thank you’ in their own inimitable style…

“We know you love what you do, but we also understand how difficult care work can be. It’s not all just making cups of tea. You can often feel exhausted: emotionally, and physically. This Professional Care Workers’ Day, we want to celebrate you. You on the frontline. The hard workers. The greatest listeners. The night owls. Who keep people safe, and happy. And always say: ‘It’s never too much trouble.” And to that we say… THANK YOU!”
