Activities, events and celebrations are a way of life at Cheriton, our care home in Dorchester on Weymouth Avenue.
There’s always something to do from balloon Badminton, trips out and supporting charity fundraisers, to pamper sessions, quizzes and firm favourites like animal bingo.
Celebrations are a big deal too, whether it’s birthdays, wedding anniversaries or special events, our team and residents at Cheriton always know how to have a good time.
Manager Denise Chippres said:
We know just how important social interaction, events and celebrations are in making sure that all our residents are happy, active and well in body and mind.
That’s never been more important than during Covid when we’ve been making sure that day-to-day events, activities and celebrations kept going, depending on restrictions at the time.
With lock-down easing and summer on the way, we’re looking forward to introducing more activities and welcoming more guests into the home as well as going out on trips too.
Our team at Cheriton loves to get involved in events and activities. Our social co-ordinators makes sure activities go with a swing and are happy to take suggestions on board at monthly cuppa and cake get togethers.
Residents have plenty of choice, encouragement and assistance; so as well as organised events there’s the opportunity to join in with quieter pastimes like arts and crafts, puzzles or one-to-one activities.
Our home includes spacious communal lounges for residents to enjoy with friends, and secure, beautifully maintained gardens where people can join in with activities or simply be outside watching and listening to the wildlife.
Residents can become members of the gardening club to pot up bulbs and tend vegetable seedlings donated by the local community.
Covid hasn’t stopped the fundraising for good causes either, including our nationwide Morris Dance for Captain Tom’s 100 challenge in aid of the Care Worker’s Charity (pictured below).
Cheriton Care Home is part and parcel of the local community, enjoying close ties with the local church, community groups and schools – with pupils from St Osmund’s making cakes for residents.
As well as keeping the busy social life going, the our team has continued to host safe visits to the home and welcomed many new residents, who are now experiencing the benefits and delights of life in Cheriton, our care home in Dorchester , which is rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission.
The home is Covid-free, continues to carry out regular testing and follows latest guidance on PPE and infection prevention control.
