What is extra care?

Through our extra care services we aim to support you to retain and remain as independent as possible.

Agincare’s extra care services are commissioned by the Local Authority at the four sheltered/extra care schemes in the City of Nottingham and the Rushcliffe Borough of Nottinghamshire

We provide services to people living at or moving to the scheme following appropriate Adult Services assessments of need and financial eligibility.

That means that if you have a tenancy in one of these schemes you may be eligible for support from our teams.

If you are eligible, we may be able to help with:

  • Shopping
  • Housekeeping
  • Personal care
  • Support to attend social activities
  • Help with medication
  • Dementia care
  • Night care
  • Regular welfare calls
  • Responding to emergencies and providing additional pop-in calls and support that may well prevent the need for hospital admission

Cricketers Court, Hilton Grange and Spring Meadow

For Cricketers Court, Hilton Grange and Spring Meadow you can contact the Local Authority on 0300 500 8080.

Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing is the landlord for these three schemes.

Albany House

At Albany House we are able to make private arrangements with you, if appropriate to your circumstances.

The Local Authority and the landlords may well need to speak with you before we do. However, we are always happy to talk with you if you want to know more about the extra care service and whether you might be eligible.

Paragon Asra Housing is the landlord for Albany House.

Costs of extra care services

Agincare’s extra care services are commissioned by the Local Authority and the costs of the service – as well as eligibility to receive the service – are set by them. If you receive this commissioned service the Local Authority will invoice you directly for any charges you need to pay.

Meet the extra care registered manager, Rachel Pengelly

Rachel holds a degree in Applied Social Studies and a Certificate of Qualification in Social Work. She has 25+ years’ experience managing the delivery of care services to older people in residential settings, extra care and the community.

Rachel is supported by Tiffany Collishaw. Tiffany has spent many years supporting people in social care settings, managed registered services herself and holds NVQ 4 in Health and Social Care.

In turn we are supported by our team of dedicated care workers working hard to support service users to maintain their independence, health and wellbeing.
