Dementia treatment

There is currently no cure for dementia. However, many people with dementia live well for years after their diagnosis.

There are drugs that can help with the symptoms of dementia, or that in some cases may stop them progressing for a while. Dementia-specific drugs may help with memory, concentration and daily living, but as the condition progresses different types of medicines can be used to ease agitation and distress behaviours.

Non-drug dementia therapies

Non-drug therapies such as talking therapies, life story work, crafts, games and music can stimulate and motivate a person living with dementia to engage with others and keep physically, mentally and socially active.

We work closely with healthcare partners to make sure that we are doing all we can to support people to live well with dementia.

After a dementia diagnosis, if a person and their family decides they need extra support, we create a bespoke package of care for them.

Our home care and live-in care staff work with people with dementia to help them live at home as independently as possible.

And our dementia care homes offer a dedicated and practical approach to caring for people living with dementia.

Agincare’s specialist dementia care services can make a real difference to the quality of life for people with dementia.
