Home care for people living with Alzheimer’s

We’ve been providing reliable, flexible and affordable home care (also known as domiciliary care) for more than 30 years.

With our support people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia can live independently at home for as long as possible, with a care worker providing personal care and support, as well as helping with tasks like laundry or shopping.

What is home care for people living with Alzheimer’s?

Home care can be relatively simple, like helping you get up and about in the morning, making sure you take your medication at the right time, feeding pets or helping you move around the house. Or it could be more complex high-dependency 24-hour home care.

Our service is flexible and we match the care and the care worker to you. We do an initial assessment of what you need, then plan your care around those needs. We keep the plan under review – it can change as often as you need it to. We’ll always provide care and support in a way that has been agreed with you.

As well as practical support with personal care or domestic tasks we can support you with social, leisure and recreational activities. This could be just taking time for a chat or helping you get out and about to events, the shops or whatever you choose. We will work with you and your family to get it right.

Why choose home care from Agincare?

  • Although we’ve grown to be one of the country’s leading home care providers, we’re still a family-owned and family-run business
  • Our original guiding principles have served us well and still hold true today – treating people with care, kindness and dignity in the same way we would want our own families or ourselves  to be treated
  • We have over 20 domiciliary care offices across the country. We’ll put your mind at ease and take care of every part of your home care from your local office
  • We direct employ, train and manage our extensive network of local care workers
  • We work hard to ensure clients are cared for by the same worker as often as possible to build consistent, long-standing relationships
  • All our care workers are enhanced DBS (police) checked and highly trained to provide a friendly, caring and reliable service
  • We use the latest technology to help manage our service and clients

Our home care staff

Many of our home care staff are well-known in their local community – they may be a familiar face already. Our carer staff become part of your daily life at home. Some of our home care staff have been supporting the same people from more than 20 years – they really feel like part of the family!

All staff have access to dementia-specific training to help them understand the needs of a person living with dementia and develop their knowledge and experience.

We have lots of great stories about our care staff who have gone the extra mile to help the people they’re caring for:

  • At 97, Ron vividly remembers the Second World War and wanted to visit Portland’s D-Day Museum. It’s a trip that wouldn’t have been possible without the support of his care worker
  • Mel’s care worker put together a tour of local places he remembered as a child, as part of his Alzheimer’s care programme

What does home care cost?

Cheap headline figures can be attractive, but it’s the small print that can hurt. We believe you should know from the outset what you will be paying for home care and that is why, once we have agreed the support you need, we will tell you how much we charge. There are no hidden charges.

You may be eligible for financial support – we can signpost you to information from your local council about a needs assessment.
