How much does it cost?
The cost will depend on the level of care that we have been asked to provide, which will be determined once a comprehensive individual assessment has been undertaken. Agincare have over 25 contracts with local authorities and Primary Care Trusts, providing a wide variety of services. Consequently, we have lots of experience of working with multi-source funding and will try and accommodate most circumstances.
What is Live-in Care?
The care worker stays in a clients’ home on an ongoing basis. They can fulfil personal care and general household duties. The level of care provided varies, depending on the individual needs. It can range from general companionship and housekeeping to high dependency, intensive personal care.
What areas of the country do you cover?
Agincare’s service covers across England and Wales. We maintain a strong pool of trained and qualified carers who are able to travel at short notice. All of our care workers are managed from our Bath office, though are supported by the infrastructure of Agincare’s other services across England and Wales.
How long can I have care from you?
Agincare live-in care can be provided for as long as you need us. This varies from short respite breaks of a week, either as one off or at regular intervals throughout the year, through to permanent long term care.
What tasks will your Care Workers complete?
Live-in care workers can support a wide range of tasks including:
Household tasks eg, light housework, laundry, cooking, shopping, pet care
Companionship eg, Conversation, reading
Errands eg, collecting pensions or prescriptions
Administration eg, letter writing, or dealing with bills
Social eg, visiting friends or even assisting you at work or studies.
Personal care eg. Getting up, toileting, bathing, washing, dressing, assisting with medication
Palliative care e.g helping someone remain in their own home through terminal illness
How are your Care Workers recruited?
Agincare have a robust recruitment and selection process, which complies with all employment legislation as well as the current Care Standards Act 2000 and related Regulations requirements. This includes a Criminal Records Bureau check, including checks against the Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA) register and Protection of Children Act (POCA) list.
What will I be expected to provide?
The Care Worker will need their own room, bed and linen and somewhere to hang their clothes. You will also be expected to provide the resources for their meals following a ‘normal’ balanced diet. Any particular dietary requirements or needs will be borne by the Care Worker.
Are Agincare Live-in Care Services Limited registered with professional associations or government bodies?
Yes, we are registered with The Commission for Social Care Inspection (www.csci.org.uk). We are also a member of the United Kingdom Home Care Association (UKHCA) and are an umbrella organisation with the Criminal Records Bureau.
How are your Care Workers trained?
All Agincare care workers attend training in accordance with current Skills for care Common Induction Standards. Further specialist training programmes are available, as well as distance learning modules recognising the flexibility needed for live-in care workers. Topics covered include, Moving and Handling; Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Safe Handling of Medication, Emergency First Aid, Principles of Care, Role of Care Worker, Needs of Service User, Continence Care, Basic Infection Control and Adult protection training.
Agincare also work closely with any partner professionals involved in a service users’ care to ensure that joint training takes place where appropriate, enabling continuous learning and adaptation to changing circumstances.
