Environment and CSR

Statement in respect of Agincare’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

At Agincare we aim to adhere to our core responsibilities with all relevant legislation.  However, we also want to exceed those basic requirements to not only comply with standards set but to exceed them wherever possible.  To this end we have published company values which guide all elements of our service delivery and underpin the way in which we operate our business.  We are committed to working in partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, using our local office networks and increasing presence in the national care sector to influence positively on a local and national scale in respect of our business, our employees, local communities and national best practice.

Statement in respect of Agincare’s commitment to Environmental Issues:

Our Commercial Assistant has been nominated as Agincare’s “Environmental Champion” and is actively seeking opportunities for recycling and is incorporating a “Reduce, Re-use, Recycle” initiative.  She has secured a contract with a local recycling company who collect all of Agincare’s waste paper, envelopes, cardboard plastic bottles, cans etc.  In addition, Perrys also plant a tree for every 300 bag of paper that is collected.

Agincare are also in the process of enhancing our Environmental Policy to include only the usage of biodegradable and environmentally friendly products for all cleaning within all of Agincare’s local ofices.

We are working in partnership with local office staff to introduce simple ways of achieving recycling of basic materials such as plastic, paper and confidential waste and printer cartridges and mobile phones.  Agincare are currently involved in the following Environmental office schemes:

  • Electronic data transfer to limit unnecessary paperwork with regard to communications across the company
  • Introduction of a bespoke scheduling system to ensure electronic data transfers – eliminating the need for hard copy time sheet for payroll and accounts purposes.
  • Ensuring that all leaflets and newsletters are printed using recycled paper and or paper from renewable and sustainable sources.
  • Reducing paper printouts as much as possible and encouraging double sided printing when feasible, giving shredded confidential documents to local stables and reusing non-confidential paper for scrap pads before recycling
  • Re-using envelopes for distributing internal post
  • All paper, cardboard, envelopes, plastic and cans are recycled
  • Ensuring radiators are turned down/off when not in use, ensuring lights are turned off when rooms are not in use
  • Having a “Think Before You Print” slogan at the bottom of all e-mails
  • We recycle all printer cartridges and mobile phones with the RNIB and hosted a “BRINGAPHONETOWORKDAY2007” on the 18th January 2007.
  • Ensuring all monitors, computers, printers and photocopiers are switched off when not in use.
  • All old Computers, Printers etc. are transported by a local company to schools in Africa.

In addition, Agincare has recently made several pledges with Better Together Dorset to commit to fulfilling certain environmental initiatives during the next year and will embrace other local authority’s policies to support and adhere to the provision of sustainable services. We are working closely with our stationery supplier to publicise our commitment to supporting sustainability and will be actively publicising our campaign.
